I read in the Gazette today
First, believe very little of what you read, especially in some news sources ... there's often corrections made, sometimes even published, days later. |

Rotterdam LL will share, but not leave, its fields
In the Oct. 14 Gazette county Legislator Joseph Suhrada couldn’t have been further from the truth when he wrote that the Rotterdam Little League notified the town of Rotterdam that the Little League had no further use for the fields. Nothing could be further from the truth. I e-mailed Supervisor Tommasone last winter that we had plans to make improvements to the fields and he thought it was a good idea and we had his support. Due to the change in the economy, we didn’t feel it was right to go to our loyal sponsors to get extra money that we would need and decided to make do with what we had this past season. We all forward to welcoming back to their original home and working with the Schenectady County Challengers as we share our fields with them.
BOB CAPRARA Rotterdam The writer is president of the Rotterdam Little League.

Corrections made to what? They printed a letter to the editor written by the Rotterdam little league president stating the obvious- the fact that he never was contacted and never told Surhadra or anyone else that the fields were not going to be used. To the contrary, the little league had plans to make improvements. So now you have a league notifying the town in writing that they want to use the fields AND make improvements and Surhadra and others go ahead and say publicly that they were informed the opposite and give the fields to someone else. Then, after someone realizes that they are going to take some heat for what they did- they backpedal and say that there's gonna be a kumbaya and why can't we all get along? Kumbaya sounds great but you have to invite everyone to the table- especially the ones who have maintained and played on the fields and signed a lease decades ago. Wouldn't ya now agree? |

It seems rather ironic that both articles appear in the paper a day apart. It would lead some to believe that there were some kind of communications previous to these articles. To coincidental. |

[quote=6]I don't see the issue here. This clearly can not be political, except perhaps for timing....but s.t. was ENDORSED by the cons. And the con leadership had no control over who would win the primary. [quote]
The endorsement means nothing in the CP. It was their full intention to screw Tommasone (not that I care, I'm not on his side - but that's not the point). The point is this: Pascarella, Hamilton and their Krat handlers thought it would be better PR to screw Tommasone in September, as opposed to July at the authorization line (as they have done in the past), all in the name of "Democracy" of course. Randy authorized DelGallo's Designating Petition, for a guy who wasn't endorsed, giving him a lever so that the cops could avoid the much more difficult write-in to screw their own "endorsed" candidate".
And by the way, PapaRandy et al always consider the Kratz "the best" candidates because their Krat owners say so. Joe is gonna beat his boy...who has been pampered for years as a "School Resource Officer"...a position, by the way, which was created by his mother, with her beloved son in mind.

I have to agree with you on this one, cause it sure looks that way to me too. Perhaps judy dago can pull yet another baseball field out of her hat just before election day for the RLL. She did that before. Never panned out though. Let's see what she does this year? |

Don’t let Conservatives politicize Little League
The Challenger baseball league for handicapped children is one of the most worthy causes I have ever supported. The recent act by Rotterdam officials to move them to public lands (Woestina Park) and off their Five Corners, privately owned fields is wonderful. Woestina is a park that could be spruced up a little and have a tremendous return for youth activities. I applaud [Supervisor] Steve Tommasone, [Councilman] Joe Signore and [county Legislator] Joe Suhrada for working on a plan there to include the disabled kids of the Challengers. It took some vision and guts to insist that there be room for all kids to play there. Why is it wrong to make room in a park for kids who are disabled? Why is it wrong to open up the park so all kids can play there? Especially since it is under-used or not used at all. If the public owns the land, a few Little League officials can’t bar the other kids. I know it isn’t all the parents, just two or three with a political axe to grind. Shame on them! Sadly, these few parents in the Little League who are members of the county Conservative Party want all Republicans out of office. These few want to make a political issue by pretending the Little League is being thrown off the fields. Not true. There is enough space for the Challengers to play 12 hours a week. Don’t believe the malarkey, it is a distraction.

No idea who Spence Turner is, but it appears he wrote a good article - and he's from town - not from Scotia like that other hack. |
