The water table in the old sand pit is pretty high and there were even a couple of ponds along the old railroad tracks in past years.

A little league field by a sewage facility and a gravel pit! Couple that with 248 apts, and the bmx track and the railroad tracks....that should make for great traffic flow and clean air! NOT

Judy dago surely knew what she was doing when she stuck it to larned by selling him this land. It is clear that any development on any of that land will be a safety hazard to that end of rotterdam. And as much as I am in support of people doing what they want with their own property (within reason of course), I, as a taxpayer, do not want to spend my money to invest in someones personal property. Not to mention that it is certainly not my responsibility or concern that someone made a bad financial investment in land that clearly should not be developed.

Again folks....we yet continue with piss poor planing.....on OUR dime!

The league is using four fields on Princetown Road for games. Larned owns the land, site of the former Rotterdam Republican Club, and has allowed the Little League to use it for years.

Larned purchased the Princetown Road property in 2002 for $582,000.

Why didn't Judy Dagastino and the rest of the Dagostino family who were members of the Republican Club for 30 years, as well as the rest of the turn coat Republicans donate the land to the Town for Rotterdam for Little League instead of selling it to Larned?  This is how filthy Rotterdam and Schenectady politicians are.  Judy Dagastino and the rest of the greedy leaders of the Republican Party at that time SELL the Republican club property to Timmy Larned right before she turn coats to the Democrats and runs for County Legislator as a Democrat.  Then she uses her position to set County money aside for park development in the County.  Now she is attempting to use her position to purchase Larned land with taxpayer dollars so Larned can develop the land where the LL fields are located, which coincidentally is the land that Judy sold to Larned.

Wake up Rotterdam!!!!!  The developers are being mobilized.  They are ready to cut this town to ribbons. Judy Dagostino's job isn't to make a rich man richer with taxpayer money.
It seems as if Judy D's whole purpose as County Legislator is to find property for the Little League fields located on the old Republican Club property, so Mr. Larned can develop it and cash in.  I can only wonder what's in it for her.

The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable, and so, if he is romantic, he tries to change it. And even if he is not romantic personally he is apt to spread discontent among those who are. ~ H.L. Mencken

They are doing 'scorch and burn' to pad their retirements/lifestyles and lifestyles of the Rotterdam Big Fish.....although maybe FDG can help them
out and build a nice retirement home for them on his compound........

Lest voters forget, Dagastino sold out

Author(s): LAWRENCE J. O'CONNOR    Date: September 6, 2005 Section: Opinion

Judy Dagostino is a sellout. She sold out our Little Leaguers to a wealthy developer to make way for Wal-Mart, all for a few shillings. Then she sold out her lifelong Republican Party by switching to the Democrats when the party got in her way; shame on her.
It's a long, sordid tale. It begins with the Dagostino scheme to remove any potential opposition in the old Republican Club, simultaneously increasing the Dagostino families' share of the proceeds; and ends with the sale of Rotterdam's Little League fields to a wealthy developer, ultimately to make way for the Super Wal-Mart.
As a consequence of her misdeed, the Republican Party, led by Rotterdam Republican Chairman Tom Buchanan, did the seemingly incredible: It didn't cover for one of its own. Instead, it recognized wrongdoing and took the appropriate action - at the risk of losing a majority on the county Legislature!
Dagostino, along with several family members and co-conspirators, were charged with disloyalty by Buchanan and brought before the Schenectady County GOP Grievance Committee. True to form, she threw a political temper tantrum, switched parties and threw the majority to the Democrats, who of course welcomed her with open arms.
The voters will not be fooled.

Five years since that item and she still has the people fooled. I remember at the time her, her family members, and cronies couldn't wait to sell the property and whack up the proceeds between themselves. They sure didn't care about the youngsters then. Now as the champion of the little leaguers she is buying back the property. But this time it is with OUR MONEY. Only in Rotterdam!

Judy Dago and family are the root cause of why the rll is in the situation it is in today. She sold the land right out from under these kids with no regard for them what so ever!!! She and her family's only concern was what they could stuff in their pockets first!!  Why didn't she and her family 'give' the land to the rll?

So just a few short years ago, the rll had a park. Judy Dago and family sell it out from under them. NOW....and I can't believe I'm saying this......she wants US THE TAXPAYERS to buy them back, so to say! Is she NUTS? Or are we nuts for allowing it??

And in defense of Buchannan....when this happened, she was a 40 year registered rep.. He knew that what she was doing was underhanded and did not protect her. He actually exposed her. (for that I give him credit) And what did she do.....changed to to a dem. They can have her.

And now larned is stuck with a piece of property that probably will never be developed due to it's location! GOOD JOB DAGO!!!

Wake up people and do your homework!!!!!!

I just received a copy of the agenda for tonight.  This will be considered in committee tonight, with a total price of $600,000.  This is being "offset" by $340,000 state and federal charitable contribution credit.  The total to be passed at the closing is $260,000.

Anybody want to come and hear what they're doing?

So larned is going to pay for water and sewer connections for this 248 unit apt complex. I thought our sewer infrastructure was unable to handle much more? Also was their a traffic study done? If not will one be required? Also will there be an estimate on exactly how much more this will cost in road repairs? How about the influx of kids at schalmont?

Will all of these issues be addressed? And if so, who will address them?

Schenectady County Secures New Home for Rotterdam Little League

The Schenectady County Legislature unanimously approved the purchase of 8.7 acres of real estate in the Town of Rotterdam for parkland and to create a new home for the Rotterdam Little League at the March 9, 2010 regular meeting of the Legislature.

The Rotterdam Little League needs a new location because the owner of its current site plans to develop the property. The purchase of the new site will allow for the relocation of the current ball fields and allow the development of a 248 unit apartment complex which will bring new tax revenues to the County, Town, and school district. Schenectady County will use special dedicated parks and recreation funds to purchase the land.

“I am pleased that the County Legislature is able to step forward and use this funding to secure a new home for the Rotterdam Little League,” said Judy Dagostino, Schenectady County Legislator and sponsors of the resolution. “Hundreds of Rotterdam youth will benefit every year from this investment in our future.”

County officials have secured an agreement to purchase approximately 8.7 acres of land at 544 Burdeck Street for $260,000, significantly less than the appraised value of $600,000. The difference in value will be donated to the county by the current owner. The Rotterdam Little League will lease field space from the County. The Little League will be responsible for all the costs associated with developing and building the new baseball fields.
Founded in 1950, the Rotterdam Little League has about 400 players each season. The league promotes self discipline, initiative, team spirit, sportsmanship, family and community as its core values.

Isn't it just interesting that JD proposed $260,000 for a little league park. Especially since it is her favorite developer TL that will be the recipient of political favors at the taxpayers expense! Ahhhh.....History does repeat itself..eh?
