I will definitely make a donation and possibly be there.  She is one of the only people on the County Board that we can really go to.  

She's got to be re-elected as she's one of the few on the County Council that really cares about the residents.

Despite what I am certain has been a difficult and unrewarding tenure as a member of the minority party in the County Legislature, Carolina Lazzari has unselfishly decided to run for reelection to the government body so that she can continue to protect the interests of the residents of District 4.  As I have stated in my prior posts, she will have my full support for her campaign.  The best contribution that we can make in recognition of her years of stellar service, however, is to defeat those in the majority (Democrat) party who are running for the Legislature and instill a Republican majority.  Let us not forget on Election Day the dysfunctional county government that has given us Kosiur's Law.  That includes Republicans Joseph Suhrada and Robert Farley who voted for passage of Local Laws 03-07 and 04-07.

You got that right.....some horses you can lead to water....and others you cant

Hey, senders, you're a nurse, you have those tubes, right?  Well, we don't have to lead the county legislature to the water, we can just stick the tube down their throat and dump in the water and MAKE them drink.

The folks in the county legislature should be voted out and new people should be brought in. The ones that are in office now are not working with the other political parties. This means that the residents that the minority represents can not benefit. There really does need to be a change there.

This entire system of representation by our county legislatures can not be fixed. It is truly a broken governmental system that clearly needs to be abolished. This present county legislature only guarantees high taxes and our County that will remain without effective representation. I would think that the 'people' could vote this present system out. Be it by petition or referendum. It needs to be  replaced with a more effective system different from what it is now. Giving more authority, decision making and input from the counties supervisors.

Perhaps the town supervisors could give us some input on the IF and HOW it could be done.

Well, I doubt it could be done, but the County board is supposed to represent everyone in the county, right?  I know it would be an extra chunk out of these people's already busy schedule, but instead of having new positions elected to represent the people from around the county to represent us at the county level, why not have a new County Board that has seated on it the Mayor of Schenectady and the Supervisors of the surrounding areas?  Maybe one position could be elected in for a leader of this group or they could have one appointed in some way.  Maybe an election by the people currently sitting on the board?

I wouldn't mind paying more for people who are actually going to sit and actually represent the people that have elected them in.

BK, I believe that 'we' could write up a new law and put it up for a referendum for the Nov. election. But it would take a ton of time and effort.

County Board of Supervisors.  I know Schoharie County is governed by this system.  Each Town Supervisor is the representative on the County Board.  I don't know much about it, but it is on my list of things to learn about when I can free up some time. It seems that each town and village board has 5 members.  I don't know how many are on the city board, I will assume 5 to be conservative and 15 legislators, that brings you to a total of 55 people governing the county.  I'm sure there is a downside that I don't know about.

I really think we should look into it. At the snails pace our county representatives are moving, I'll be dead and gone before there is any kind of reform....if any reform at all. It truly can't and shouldn't continue on this way. The residents of each county is not getting the representation that is expected. There needs to be a change....soon, before the dysfunctional dictatorship takes over our counties entirely.

Bumble, that's exactly what the county legislatures are counting on, all of us dieing so that they won't have any voices raised against them.

A ladder that is being climbed by the legislators...they take a step, break a rung and then procede to nail up a new rung---not quite as straight as the last rung that was there......The ladder is all our governmental constitutions......

A Board of Supervisors could be formed, but it would take petitioning and a referendum. The way our current County Legislature is functioning, it seems apparent that some of the counties are not receiving the representation  as expected by their elected representatives.

This could be addressed by not voting for the incumbent in the next election or to possibly address the possiblility of forming a Board of Supervisors. Forming a Board of Supervisors should be taken into consideration for a possible alternative. The idiology for a Board Supervisors may not address all of the problems facing the counties today, and may even present more, but should be considered as an option.

This would be/could be 'good consolidation'.....it should have a time limit.....we all know how the cobwebs form.....new things must remain 'new things', raised up for 1 purpose at a time.......it makes for cleaner/clearer decisions.....
