As a side note.  Does anybody know if Denny the police officer is any relation to Jack Denny running for the town board??

No, I don't, but I think this is where I was questioning about hearing that name before and thanks for bringing it up.  Looks like I WILL be looking to endorse of the Dems for the other board seat.  I don't see any reason to put someone on the board that was already the center of so much unwarranted attention.

And Cicero, as I stated earlier, I believe that John Denny who is running actually IS Jack Denny.  Actually take a minute to pull over and look at one of these signs, I know there are some on Ford Street which is directly across from OLA on Princetown Rd.  Look closely at the sign, especially the upper left hand side of the D in Denny.  It says that he actually is Jack.

I don't know Jack, but I know I'm not voting for him.

(And if you're going to quote that, I hope that you actually use the entire sentance and not twist it like so many others love to.)

I'm starting to think that everyone should just register independent and let the politicians guess who we'll vote for.

It doesn't matter what party you are affiliated with when you register. You still can vote anyway you want. That was obvious in the state assembly race!

The only problem is that if you register Rep or Dem they think that you're going to vote along party lines. If you register Independent then the politicians will have to do something for you in order to secure your vote. Here in Schenectady the population is registered heavily Dem so the Dems think they can do whatever the want to and still win the election. It was a real shock to them to lose the election for the 105th district as they thought that they had that election in the bag.

This is part of the reason I was thinking of registering as a Democrat, to only vote as a Republican.  Maybe it would help when they decide to use me as a number in redistricting.  But at the same time, I can't bring myself to agree with much of that side, so I can't see myself actually holding my breath long enough to tell someone to register me as a Dem.  I used to be registered as a Dem, just never voted that way.  I vote with my mind, not with any party.

We must stop answering the polls and engaging the media so no fuel can be had by the gamesters in politics......

We must engage media for purposes not parties......

Denny the best town board candidate period

Politics aside, how many people ask “Democrat or Republican?” before having a conversation with a person they have just met? Probably none.
Don’t vote for John “Jack” Denny III because he is a Democrat endorsed by Republicans. Vote for John “Jack” Denny III because he worked for the town of Rotterdam in the Highway Department, the Water and Sewer Maintenance Department and the Public Works Department. He knows the town through the various departments he has served.
The Republicans endorsed the best “person” for the position. Who did the Democrats endorse? What do those [who have been] endorsed know about Rotterdam?
Vote for John “Jack” Denny III because he is the best “candidate” for town board.

A lot of questions with no answers.
Still not convincing for a vote.

I agree. There are tons of people that I know that have worked for the town for years. Doesn't mean I'd want them representing me. And just because the reps are endorsing him, doesn't necessarily mean he will vote along party lines. It certainly came back to bite them in the a** when they endorsed Joe abstain Guidarelli (c).

I agree Bumble, there are many people currently and in the past that have worked for the town in various capacities and that certainly doesn't qualify them to represent the residents. People like that may have a lot of favors to pay back and therefore would not be a very  good choice.

And for those with experience (e.g. Kosiur) to contend that someone without experience in public office (e.g., Amedore) makes the latter unqualified is dishonest as the incumbents were new to office at some point in time.

I have a friend who told me they were donating a good chunk of change to John Silva's, (CDW) campaign. I asked this person 'why'...and the respond was, 'he is a friend'. So I asked this person if they thought Mr. Silva would be an asset to the town board....and the respond was 'no'!!!

So there ya have it folks, with this mentality, Rotterdam doesn't have a shot in hell!

Bumble,

As you are a friend of the individual making the donation, perhaps you too should ask for a contribution.
Campaign contributions are not tax deductible.  Thus, it won't cost your friend any more than the donation that
he/she made to Silva.

You are correct, that the voters must consider who will do the best job for their community regardless of party,
name, presumed electibility, and, as you suggest, friendship.  We need representatives in office who will reduce
taxes, attract business, eliminate government fraud, and make Schenectady County a better place to live.
