Bumble,

The correspondence that you posted has the signature of the Schenectady County Conservative Party Chair, Randy Pascarella.  So, I would ASSUME that it was sent by the party.  However, the mailing that was posted by Pat Z on Sep 16th (the first posting), bears the logo of the Conservative Party of New York State (CPNYS), but does NOT bear the signature/name of the state party Chairman Long.  It is the latter anonymous correspondence that incorrectly directs voters to write in only the last name of the candidate.  This is clearly an attempt by the sender to invalidate the votes of the party members and deny their opinion and wishes.

I am in full agreement with you. My only concern was denying or obscuring the 'peoples right of choice'. When any political party, or whoever, hampers the rights of the people, it clearly states corruptness and lack of trust, in my view.

Yet I still do not understand WHY the conservs endorsed Jasenski and Godlewski. THAT TRULY DOES BOTHER ME! I have heard some explainations from some, that I choose not to believe,(although may be true) as I did not like the answer I received. I have yet to hear anything on the contrary.

It is my understanding that Carolina Lazzari had initially stated her position to not run for reelection and then, after the debacle of the Sex Offender Residency legislation, decided that she would not surrender her seat to the majority.  At the time that she announced that she would run for reelection, the nominating deadline for the Conservative Party endorsement had passed.  So, it is my belief that the party would have endorsed her.

The reason(s) that the party leadership endorsed Jasenski and Godlewski, rather than the conservative Republican candidate Angelo Santabarbara is fodder for the conspiracy theorists.  Mr. Santabarbara clearly espouses more traditional conservative positions than do either of the Democrats.  Further, a vote for Jasenski or Godlewski is a vote for the status quo that is failing the hard working and heavily taxed residents of Schenectady County.

Why is it so hard to believe that Randy Pasqarella would send out the letter?
He is the only one with everything to gain by sending it.

Well, I just looked around at a few things and I can't find anything as far as a count for possible write-in votes.  Did anybody actually put in a write-in vote?  Should we not expect these types of numbers to be in until at least tomorrow or the next couple of days?

I've been doing the same thing. I don't think it would be on the news tonight. I don't think anyone thinks of Rotterdam as 'news worthy'. I'm sure it will be in the paper tomorrow though.

But that doesn't show total number of voters or any possible write-ins.  And I'm sure at LEAST Z2IM would have written in the appropriate candidates.

You out there Z2IM???

Ok reporting live from Duanesburg..........Carolina Lazzari and Angelo Santabarbara won the Conservative write in in D'burg.  Yes, folks, thats right they won in D'burg anyway.  Our Justice Rita LaBelle won both the Conservative and Independence line back after being primaried by Camille Enders.

Remember these are preliminary results and could change, but I'm pretty confident with the info.  The turn out was very low.
Z is at the Elks in Rotterdam awaiting more numbers.

Yippee.  Glad to hear it, Rene.  Gotta get Z a palm pilot or a laptop with that wonderful verizon service we're always seeing.  Then he could have reported live from the Elks.  We could already know by now.  Nothing in the Gazette as far as the write-in vote, except that there was the campaign for it.

As Rene posted, I was at the Rotterdam Elks last night with the Republican candidates awaiting the poll results.

The race for the Conservative party endorsement for the Schenectady County Legislature is close.  The last information that I heard is
that the preliminary numbers give Jasenski and Godlewski each 150 votes with approx. 285 total voters taking part in the primary election.  There are, however, at least 20-25 absentee ballots that the Republican candidates believe will fall overwhelmingly into their camp.

It should be noted that the numbers are preliminary.  Many question the 150 votes for each of the two Democrats.  Seems odd that both would poll the same and end with such a nice "round" number.  But, we must await the final results.

Rene is correct that Duanesburg awarded Lazzari and Santabarbara lopsided victories.  However, the turnout was not high and the number of registered Conservative and Independents in Duanesburg is low.  Princetown voters also supported the Republican candidates by wide margins.

So, we wait.  We remain vigilant as we had poll watchers at each polling station.  Either way that the results go, the write in ballot was HUGE and should be a wake up call to Schenectady County Conservative Party Chairman Randy Pascarella that the rank and file members of the party are NOT supportive of his actions in endorsing liberal candidates to run on the Conservative party line and they disapprove of his mailing characterizing those of us who supported the conservative Republicans as "outsiders".  The battle may over but the war is not.  The fight for the hearts and minds of the traditional conservatives in the party has just begun.
