I have heard that there are many write in votes being challenged and that there is talk about not opening some/all of the absentee ballots.
How can they just NOT open some/all of the absentee ballots? Now that's a law suit waiting to happen, if I must say so myself. |

Shall we read this article slowly, again? It's from a couple of years ago.

Pascarella is selected as leader New Conservative Party officers include police, firefighters BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter
The county Conservative Party has new leaders and a new agenda. Randy M. Pascarella, 43, was elected chairman of the 2,714-member countywide third party. He succeeds Paul Brown, who served as chairman for six years. Brown and other members of his executive committee chose not to seek office, he said. The Sept. 12 Conservative Party primary decided all 256 committee seats, which determined the officers elected Sunday night. Several of the party’s new leaders are police officers and fi refighters from the city and outlying towns. Brown and his officers represented sheriff’s deputies and corrections officers from the Schenectady County Jail. Brown was once president of the correction officers’ union. The party in Schenectady County is influential as a bloc of votes that can determine a close race. Also elected were David F. Battaglia, vice chairman of legislative District 4; Michael Della Rocco Jr., assistant fire chief of the Schenectady Fire Department, party vice chairman of the city; Peter Rakvica, president of AFSCME Local 1130, which represents 28 workers in the Niskayuna highway and parks departments, party vice chairman in Niskayuna; and Mark LaViolette, a detective with the Schenectady Police Department, vice chairman of the party in Glenville. Robert Hamilton is Conservative Party club president; he also is president of the Schenectady City Police Department’s union, the Police Benevolent Association. Rosanna DeMarco is treasurer and Kelly Rhinesmith is recording secretary of the club. Pascarella is a former Republican who switched to the Conservatives last year. He lives in Rotterdam with his wife and four children. He is national sales executive for an automotive chemical company, a member of the Rotterdam Elks and on the executive board of the Rotterdam Little League. Pascarella said he was asked to run for the chairman’s position by Hamilton and others; Hamilton has emerged as a key figure in the party. "I have a great business background and they all trust me," Pascarella said. "I’ve been managing people in business my entire life." Pascarella said the revamped Conservative Party has "a lot of things … to accomplish. We want the party to grow." He said the party’s committee will meet in coming weeks to discuss goals. In the meantime, he said, the party plans to return to the "traditional values of Conservatives, that of being fiscally conservative and of choosing candidates who are good for the people. We want to keep our traditional Conservative responsibilities intact." INTERNAL CONFLICTS The Conservative Party came under fire in the past for endorsing major party candidates perceived as "too liberal" by rank-and-file members. It has frequently endorsed Democrats, including incumbent Sheriff Harry Buffardi. Pascarella said the county Conservative Party "will cross those bridges when we come to them," regarding endorsements. Buffardi is seeking re-election in November and won the Conservative Party’s endorsement under Brown. His Republican challenger, Michael Moffett, tried unsuccessfully to obtain the Conservative Party line in the primary last month. Buffardi hired Brown in December 2005 to a $55,000 position as inspector in the sheriff’s department. Hamilton backed Moffett’s effort, as did Republicans. The city police union has sparred with Buffardi on turf issues in the past and has supported candidates seeking to unseat him in prior elections. Brown said he did not seek reelection as party chairman because he wants to get out of politics. "I’ve been involved six years and that’s long enough. Politics brings out the worst in people."

Ya see, a while back, John Mertz(r) created a police commission, as he saw an opportunity to 'fix' the RPD. Now Mr. Mertz is not a home grown, so there was no a** kissing here or favors to be repaid. He was just out to do a job. Now after the RPD/PBA threw their tantrum and the police commission was desolved, their next move was to strong arm the conservative party. And may I add that they did it very successfully. They clearly own it. Remember that Randy Pasquarella changed his party affilliation from rep to conserv around the same time. So now that the conservs are run backed by the PBA, some reps feel that they have to make nice with the cops FOR THAT UNION VOTE! In essence my dear neighbors, all of the political parties are vying for the PBA vote. For which I say poppycock to that! What about US!! Ta he** with the cops in this political process!! They don't run our town. They just work in it! And we pay them to protect and serve!! They are OUR public servants! We are not theirs! Shame on the conservative party for letting a special interest group take them over! |

John Mertz created the police commission to "fix" the Police Department?????? Wow, you have a short memory. Mertz is not a home grown boy and didn't owe anyone.... ie ( he would never appoint or promote the wrong guy). No, of course he wouldnt do that. He merely wanted to FIX the police because he has so much experience in policing and management. Yes he wanted to fix that big budget and make big changes for the good of the taxpayer ofcourse. Well, there was a police commission for about eight months. What did they do???? A) Create a new position in the budget (with benefits= 120K) B) Questionable promotion (Now that is an understatement) Total cost of that one still being calculated..... C) New appointment (Signore jr) Yep, another cost-saver 50K for a few weeks work. Now where is he???? D) #1 prioroty is a new police building.............. Hmmmmmm . How's that workin out for ya?? E) Ambulance/ Paramedic plan........................ what a mess! Yea, I hope the Town Board creates a new Police Commission to fix the police department again.......... Come on give it up already move on The residents elected you to do better. |

SCHENECTADY COUNTY Ballots to be opened in close county race BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter Reach Gazette reporter Michael Lamendola at 395-3114 or lamend@dailygazette.com.
Democrats Anthony W. Jasenski and Robert J. Godlewski, District 4 candidates for the county Legislature, are tied so far in their efforts to also secure the Conservative ballot line for November, according to unofficial ballot counts. However, an insurgent Conservative effort to get that line for Republicans Carolina Lazzari and Angelo Santabarbara pushed the question to last Tuesday’s primary, and is close enough to be determined by absentee and emergency ballots. The outcome is anticipated this week. There are two seats open in District 4; Lazzari is the only incumbent running. The Schenectady County Board of Elections began canvassing votes Friday from the Conservative primary in District 4 for county Legislature and expects to have offi cial results within the week, offi cials said. Unofficial results for District 4 on the board’s Web site show Jasenski and Godlewski each received 150 machine votes. However, Republicans Lazzari and Santabarbara waged write-in candidacies for the Conservative line as well, and those votes need to be determined. Also, a further 25 absentee and emergency ballots remain to be opened and counted. The board expects to open the ballots this week and issue official results, said Democratic Election Commissioner Brian Quail. There is a possibility that Republicans, Democrats, or both may fi le a lawsuit in state Supreme Court to challenge the results, the election commissioners said. Such a lawsuit would be determined quickly to expedite the election process, Quail said. Schenectady County Republican Committee Chairman Tom Buchanan said a review of polling machine paper rolls Thursday indicated that Lazzari and Santabarbara collected more than 100 write-in votes each. Republican Election Commissioner Art Brassard said a total of 350 Conservatives signed their names or used paper ballots to vote in Tuesday’s primary. Election officials locked and sealed the mechanical voting machines immediately after the vote and placed the paper ballots in a safe. Quail and Brassard said the board did not receive any complaints of misconduct or fraud. GOT A NEWS TIP? Readers can call The Gazette Newspapers’ main office in Schenectady at 395-3140.

Election Fraud Crisis - Day 8: Still no official results from the Conservative Party primary election for the party endorsement for District IV Schenectady County Legislature. There were 300-350 votes cast by Conservative party members on Sept 18th. 150 were lever pulls in support of Jasenski/Godlewski. While I understand that it is local government doing the counting and not a private audit firm, should it really require over a week to count what amounts to about 200 votes? I suspect that there may be some impropriety occurring.
Where is the media that is supposed to report on issues that are important to the community? Daily Gazette? Michael Lamendola? Is anyone out there? ... |
