I resubmitted my Letter to the Editor re: Truth in Advertising in Political Campaigns (see October 22nd post) to the Editor of the Daily Gazette this morning after receipt yesterday of another campaign mailing by Jasenski/Godlewski that states that they supported a zero percent increase in the 2008 Schenectady County property tax rate. This misleading advertisement is political pandering at its worst. Mr. Godlewski has NO voice regarding the passage of legislation and budgets at the county level.
I have noted that the Daily Gazette, in it's typical form, has published many editorials (particularly those written by the Daily Gazette Editorial staff itself) that praise the Democratic candidates who are running for office. It is interesting to note that most of these have no "by" line. As I had suggested in my initial post on Oct. 22nd, I don't expect the Gazette to publish my letter as it is critical of the actions of the Democratic candidates.
"If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them, they must become happy."
For those who haven't already read it, take a look at the Fairness in Campaign Practices Committee ruling on Lazzari's complaint regarding the Jasenski/Godlewski mailings. It, along with the ruling on the complaint filed by Tommasone against Cooke are available at the forum:
Sticky: Decision Of The Fair Campaign Practices Committee
"If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them, they must become happy."
I heard a report yesterday regarding a Meet the Candidates night that was held a week or so ago by the Democratic party to introduce Jasenski and Godlewski to the residents of the Town of Duanesburg. Apparently, there were over a hundred enrolled Democrats who reside in Duanesburg who received a special invitation to attend the event at Jonathan's Pizza (in Duanesburg).
It was reported by a party insider that there was NO ONE who showed at the event. Jasenski and Godlewski are as popular in the towns of Princetown and Duanesburg as Kosiur is. Look for Duanesburg residents to deliver the margin of victory to Lazzari and Santabarbara. As for Jasenski and Godlewski, at least they will be left with cold pizza.
I have never witnessed such incivility in a political campaign as I have observed from Jasenski, Godlewski and the SCDC. People are aware of the deception and dishonesty contained in their vicious attack ads against Lazzari and Santabarbara. On Tuesday, November 6th, Jasenski, Godlewski, and Brian Quail will be taught a lesson re: integrity and honesty.
"If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them, they must become happy."
Brad I sure hope you're right. It's the uninformed voter who doesn't know the issues and candidates that vote down party lines that worry me. We have got to find a way to get thru to them.
We each tell 5 friends who tell five of their friends, who in turn tell five of their friends, and so on. Send an email to your personal contacts. I have done so and find that the emails are being forwarded to others.
I have faith in my neighbors to do the right thing. I hope not to be disappointed in them.

There are many people that are aware of what is going on. They realize that the dems are not only dishonest, but they do not have a vision for Rotterdam. Unfortunatly, they feel the same about Cooke and he was endorsed by the conservs.........MAJOR MISTAKE! Godlewski and Jasenski is a joke. God help us if they ever get elected to represent Rotterdam. It WILL be more government programs paid for by the taxpayers. They are a tax and spend elected body! And Godlewski and Jasenski fit right into the tax and spend catagory. The county legislature is as close to a socialist government as you can get. Vote these clowns in and it's a done deal! Come on people....fight for your freedom, here! VOTE FOR MS. LAZZARI AND MR. SANTABARBARA!!!
Okay then...while reading the above campaign mailer, I find it quite amusing to read, and may I quote:
Quoted Text
Bob spoke against and helped to reverse the supervisors's police commission scheme which attempted to politicize the police department.
Gee Bob, you weren't even on the town board at the time. And it seems that you are trying to take the lime light away from Joey 'abstain' Guidarelli. If I recall it was Joey, 'mr.abstain', 'mr.concervative', who was the deciding factor. If you remember there Bobby, Joey had some business connections with the RPD/PBA. Surely Bob, you wouldn't want to take that away from Mr.Abstain now would you?
And once again Bobby, it was the cops who tried to politicize there self created fiasco by trying to take over the concervative party. Which, by the way, they have successfully accomplished.
And don't ya just love how the dems play on words..again may I quote in part:

...the supervisor's police commission SCHEME...
Well, it was NOT a scheme. It was an attempt to control the inflated wages, benefits and retirements that are costing the taxpayers a fortune. Oh but I forgot, Bobby, you are a dem who cares nothing about the taxpayers...just your own personal political agenda and your sepecial interest groups.
Well Bobby, I hope your political careeer will come to a crashing end next week. Perhaps you could get an appointed position with Suzie Savage and become another one of her puppets. Or perhaps join Ms.Marco and maybe Mr.Poalino will create a job for you too at $15/hr with full benefits at the taxpayers expense.
During the year that Bob G was on the Town Board I honestly can't remember of anything that he did except voice his disapproval to every proposal that came to a vote. I agreed with him once in that year when he stated that the Town Board was doing too many studies on the same project.

Fellow Firefighters and friends,
Let me introduce myself. As a Rotterdam resident for 50 plus years and a firefighter for 42 of those, I have served in many capacities – among them Chief, Treasurer, Fire Commissioner, and former President of the Capital Area Fire Districts Assn. When I received a letter yesterday from candidates Tony Jasenski and Bob Godlewski, I was rather incredulous at their claims and false charges.
The question for us is, who has been a true friend of volunteer firefighters?
When the Rotterdam Town Chiefs requested assistance in obtaining an ATV for fighting brush and grass fires, who got the grant for them? Carolina Lazzari – not Tony Jasenski or Bob Godlewski.
When the state Comptroller said it was illegal for the town government to continue paying Volunteer Firefighter Benefit Law Insurance Premiums (VFBL), i.e. workers’ compensation, for fire districts from the town budget, who worked out a plan to let the town negotiate the VFBL coverage for the districts, apportion the premium, and keep the cost the same* as with the old system? Carolina Lazzari – not Tony Jasenski or Bob Godlewski.
Who got the state Legislature to pass legislation for Property Tax Exemption for Schenectady County Volunteer firemen? Carolina Lazzari – not Tony Jasenski or Bob Godlewski.
And when it turned out that the legislation was less beneficial than expected, who blocked Carolina Lazzari’s corrective legislature to improve the benefit? The very Democratic Majority that Tony Jasenski and Bob Godlewski are so eager to join forces with.
Since Carolina Lazzari has been in public office, she has been a strong and vocal supporter of the volunteer fire service. She was instrumental in obtaining a much-needed thermo-imaging camera for one district, was influential in getting an ATV for the Town, and has been a constant friend as a member of the countywide Fire Advisory Board, being an advocate for our Fire Service at the County Legislature.
Please pass the word along – via email mail or phone – to make sure your volunteer firefighters and friends know who has been our friend at the County Legislature before they vote on Tuesday, November 6.
Firematicly yours, George Van Schaick
* [The cost would have remained the same if all districts had stayed in the program, only the means of payment would have changed]
KEEP CAROLINA LAZZARI OUR REPRESENTATIVE - THE FIREFIGHTERS FRIEND –
"If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them, they must become happy."
And may I also say that I am delighted that Mr. Godlewski is not Rotterdam's representative at the county level. That would have been a disaster. I hope he doesn't pop up somewhere in the political process in the future that would involve Rotterdam. Bobby, just enjoy your retirement and stay out of any decision making for Rotterdam.
