Schenectady Area Labor Council Targets Races:

Town of Rotterdam Supervisor – William Cooke

Sch’dy Legislative District 4 – Robert Godlewski and Anthony Jasenski Sr.


Below is the Draft plan of action for those races:


Operations – All activities will take place from the NALC 358 Office on 434 Franklin Street in Schenectady. Candidate lawn signs and window signs will be available at this site as well.


Phone Banks – Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from October 2nd – November 1st

GOTV Phone Banks will begin Nov. 3rd – 6th at the NALC 358 Office, 434 Franklin St. in Schenectady. There are 6 land lines and a conference room where people can make calls with their cells phones. The phones will be available from 5:00 – 8:30 pm. Food will be provided to volunteers.



Labor Walks – Four Saturdays October 13, 20, and 27 and Nov. 3rd (if needed)



Mail Outs – The State AFL-CIO will do a targeted mailing to union members in Legislative District 4 and the Town of Rotterdam.


Union leaders should also send letters to their members in the district for labor endorsed candidates. A draft will be provided.


Election Day November 6 – 50 or more labor volunteers to conduct a variety of tasks including visibility, phones, door knocking, rides to the polls and anything else needed to get out the labor vote!

It is too bad that the union folks will vote anyway the union tells them. It is for the union contracts. They have been doing this for decades. The unions are a big factor in the democratic party. The phone calls and the mailings don't surprise me. Years ago the unions use to use black mail. That was back in the GE and Alco days in Schenectady.

Blackmail is right.....an elderly gentleman that I was honored to take care of told me a story how he was threatened.....the union was trying to give him $30,000 to get his 'shop' to vote a certain way...he said no way.....they then tried to burn down his home on Goosehill.....tisk tisk tisk....shame shame shame......
