I knew the Verteramo's.  In fact, they lived right over in Antonia Hills for a while.  I was friends with their son.  L&M was his life, as the name implies, as it was named after his two children (who I would get in trouble by some people if I mentioned their first names, probably be told I was giving too much information).

All parties are the same. There are none that are following their true ideology except for the dems. They are truly socialists and believe in big government. And that we can't take care of ourselves so they create law after law after law for the sheople. It's the others that are sitting back, supporting and letting it happen with no opposition.

I must say that I generally agree with you, BT, but on this, you're wrong.  Many MANY years ago, the Democrats used to be for freedom too, but that was back before the original New Deal.  Now, we have the NEW New Deal...and I'm tired of dealing.

From Marv Cermak's March 3rd column:

Embracing change — of parties

Word has it longtime Republican Holly Vellano is considering Democrat endorsement to run for a Schenectady County Legislature seat in November. This unexpected move has jolted the Republican Party because she was a two-term Rotterdam GOP town councilwoman.

She declined to run for a third term several years ago. Since then, the GOP asked her to run for Assembly and town clerk and wanted her to be a County Legislature candidate, but she wasn't interested .

Vellano recently switched her enrollment to the Conservative Party, prompting Democrats to recruit her. Ironically, should she accept the endorsement, her Democratic running mate will be Judy Dagostino, a converted Republican.

Begs the question.  Why is everyone bailing out of the Republican party (Dagostino, Vellano, Constantine, etc.)?

More interesting is, why are some joining the Conservative party?  Why didn't Vellano switch to Democrat
if that is the endorsement that she is interested in?

The same thang that happened to Constantine will happen to Holly. It's an attempt to take other another line. Salami knows something you don't know. Judy D and Holly? lol!

More great news for real REPS in Marv Cermak's today. Sue "THE" Savage is out of the Assembly race to replace Jimmy T. She took a poll and finally figured out she would get clobbered by Golden Boy, Niskayuna Hero, Jeff Blatnick. Should have read this site. How was her fund raiser Brian? Plenty of wide open spaces and stale ziti. Heard Lumpy Kosiur and Sidewalk Bob were there.

All of these parties are compromised. I guess if ya wanna win, ya got to go with the winning compromised party. If the rep party wants to ever resurect itself, it must change leadership....soon! IMHO

ONE SUGGESTION TO YOU ALL WHO CLAIM TO BE, OR THINK YOU ARE, DEMOCRATS, REPUBLICANS, OR WHATEVER WORK WITH THOSE WHO MOST AGREE WITH YOUR POSITIONS RATHER THAN FIGHT EVERYONE HERE ON THIS BLOG OR IN GOVERNMENT AND WE'LL ALL BE MORE SUCCESSFUL FOR OUR COUNTY.  THE DEMS DAYS ARE NUMBERED POLITICALLY BUT IF YOU DON'T WORK WITH THE REPUBLICANS TO OPPOSE THOSE BIG SPENDERS THEN ALL IS LOST.

WILLIAM, although I agree with you on some areas, the dems seem to be picking up speed with the 'party jumpers' and the reps losing ground. That was the plan for the last 8 years. The reps need to change leadership..in the entire county if it plans to resurrect.

I am a registered blank, but have a conservative ideology. That doesn't mean that I will support our present conservative party. And there are dems and reps who feel the same way regarding their party.

People have tried what you are suggesting, and it doesn't work. Not yet anyway. I won't elaborate cause when I do, the nasties rear their ugly head on this board.

DON'T LET THE NASTIES GET YOU DOWN.  IDEAS AND ACTIONS WIN OUT OVER THE COMPLAINING AND SCREAMING.  WORKING TOGETHER WITH THOSE WHO WANT WHATS BEST FOR ALL OF US, INSTEAD OF JUST SOME OF US, LIKE OBAMA, ACORN, SS, KLOSIER, BOB GOD, THOSE SEEKING THE GOVERNMENT BAILOUT FOR LOUSY DECISIONS OR BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO AMBITION, HAVE DADDY ISSUES, LOVE FULL VALUE ASSESSMENTS WHEN THE REAL ESTATE MARKET WAS AT AN ALL TIME HIGH LIKE PAYLINO, IMELDA MARCOS THINK YOU ALL HAVE SHORT TERM MEMORIES.  WE HAVE LONG-TERM PROBLEMS AND HAVE TO BE PATIENT WITH THOSE WHO WANT TO SOLVE THEM FOR US.  IT TOOK CONSTANTINO AND GUYS LOOKING THE OTHER WAY LIKE PAYLINO AND BOB GOD WHEN THEY WERE ON THE MOHON PAYROLL TO RUIN OUR TOWN OVER THIRTY YEARS WE COULD GIVE THE GUYS IN THERE NOW A FEW MORE TO STRAIGTEN UP THEIR CORRUPTION AND NEGLECT.
