All points taken WILLIAM. We live in a democratic state. We live in a time where all of the sheople want to be taken care of by the government. So it is a perfect marriage for the liberal dems. (Well and the conserves these days too.)

The sheople want big government and the libs are more than gracious to give it to them. And us working slobs and the wealthy will be penalized with even more taxes. It is what it is. How do you change the mind thought of the masses?

Let's not confuse a couple of liberals cross-dressing as CONS here for the rank and file who are the backbone of this County. Things are darkest before dawn. We found out that Sue "THE" Savage has dropped out of the Assembly race against Jeff Blatnick. The alleged town and County Kratz lineup from District 4 is unelectable.

On every issue from the library debacle, to the SCCC Music relocation, to the record County tax increase in a recession the REPS have been right on. Even the Gazetto said so. We need to get back to fiscal conservatism, two party government and big tent Republicanism. There is nothing wrong with our County that a REP sweep of the County and barn cleaning at the County Building would not solve. Give us the tools and we will finish the job.

I think we need to move beyond blaming people who have been out of office for 5 years or more. He isn't in office anymore. We can complain about King George III too if you want, but I would say that you have the biggest bunch of shysters to ever sit in office running the county at this point. They make Al J look like a girl scout. In Rotterdam we could sit around and deplore the spending that Constantino made the town engage in all day long too, but he is gone now. We have to deal with the current mess and the people we have charged to do it at all levels need to take responsibility. I think one of the crimes these people are guilty of is thinking that the 'good time' would never end and they could just keep on blowing money as usual.

But anyone who ever cracked a book would realize that there is a wheel of life and the economy cycles like anything else. This would surely catch up with them. To think they could piss away cash like they did without ever saving for the rainy day, qualifies them for criticism.

Too predictable. Anytime you bring up current County issues, like Savage's record debt or the Big Hose fiasco you get Evil Al. Didn't know he held County office.

How about Constantino?   The question is how we get out of the current County mess-not by re-electing those that created it.

You need more true Conservatives in office to turn this county around!  The Reps and Dems had their chance.  Now it's time for the C's to right the ship!

We need more people that earn a living in the private sector to become politically involved.  Can't have the wolves watching the hen house.  Plus, I don't think there is anybody in any of these parties with an ounce of integrity.  People involved in politics in Schenectady County are in it for the personal power.  And none of the parties are clean.

The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable, and so, if he is romantic, he tries to change it. And even if he is not romantic personally he is apt to spread discontent among those who are. ~ H.L. Mencken

You still don't get it. It's not a Dem-v-Rep thing - or even an "us-v-them" thing ... it's about what's right, locally and nationally.

Taxing people out of their homes with a new assessment isn't right
Taking us to war without verified FACTS isn't right
Killing thousands of your own countrymen isn't right
Voter fraud isn't right
Inexperience isn't right
Intimidation isn't right
Corruption isn't right
Wasteful spending isn't right
Spending $300,000 for a "green" home and calling it low income, isn't right.

I'm registered blank - I vote my conscious. I've voted for a lot of Democrats and a lot of Republicans. Had Paterson been on the ballot in NY against nearly anyone else, I probably would have voted for him, based on what we knew at that point. Unfortunately, very shortly after that, power went to his head and he turned liberal and likes to make up new taxes as he goes along - destroying businesses and taxing people out of NY.  I don't care what party he is - he still won't get my vote in the next election.  Honestly, I thought McCain was good, genuine. I thought MAYBE Obama had a shot tho at rejuvenating this country and maybe making it better.  Then I began to become informed on his policies, history, etc - not political party. In the end, I voted McCain, who happened to be a republican.

Truth be told, if a candidate is running on the Republican OR Democratic line, and ALSO on the Conservative line (or formerly, the Right to Life line), I vote the conservative way, usually, because I believe in the conservative ideals and principles.  Don't mistake that however for what our local Conservative party has become - that's quite a different story.

You would need a HUGE douche to cleanse this filthy county.  You and thor are big enough douches to take on such an unpleasant job.
