There are  plenty of studies that show that 'positive effects' of smoking and having a fat asz is EARLY DEATH- which ultimately save the taxpayers money.

Yeah, no sh*t? Does that mean we need to spend billions of tax payer $ on ads nobody pays attention to, and make more and more (and more) laws designed to protect us from ourselves? No, it doesn't.

CHOICE.....very simple.....no matter how simple you are,,,,

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Quoted Text
Tax on sugary drinks would be discriminatory

I am outraged to hear that anyone would implement a tax on sugar-sweetened beverages. Has anyone taken into consideration that not everyone is able to drink diet” beverages? I am allergic to artifi cial sweeteners, and am unable to drink beverages with such sugar substitutes. This tax is discriminatory against people like me. Why should individuals with allergies be discriminated against by our government? What compensation will New York provide to individuals with such allergies? Is New York saying that we can only purchase water without being unfairly taxed? If the tax is imposed, I may need to seek legal action against the state to be compensated for this discrimination.

No we are spending billions on people who go broke spending their money on health care and either a) they run out of money or b) they hit their lifetime maximums and then are out of insurance.  Either result puts the person on government funded medicaid.

That is the real cost to society.

What about the new health care fad....VITAMIN D!! It's the latest fashion. Oh, and for some strange reason, the over the counter Vitamin D isn't good enough. Only by prescription of course.

I know 8 people who were told by their doctor to have blood work to check their vitamin D level. They all came back low (?)....they all got scripts and none of them feel any different after 2,3,6 months on the stuff.

We'll see how this VITAMIN D fashion fad works out in 10 years!

Vitamins are best absorbed by wholesome food that contain them.  Anything else is just a fad.  I personally avoid herbals remedies as well.
