STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS
On April 20, the Mohonasen Board of Education adopted the 2009-10 proposed district budget. The $42.4 million proposal, which will go before voters May 19, represents the lowest tax levy increase in recent history, at 0.59 percent. There is a great deal of misinformation circulating regarding the proposed budget, including the belief that it will also be a vote for a new bus garage. This is not accurate. The vote is only on the budget, the purchase of buses and the board of education election. The district is still in the process of developing a capital project referendum to go before voters sometime next fall. There are many ways for community members to get accurate information about the district and upcoming budget vote, including a visit to our Web site, http://www.mohonasen.org (where you can view a video of the budget hearing and meet the candidates night), calling 356-8210, and reading our budget newsletter. A copy of the complete budget proposal is available in the district’s main office at 2072 Curry Rd. The Mohonasen board prides itself on its direct and honest communication with the school community. We find the recent attempts to misrepresent and distort information by a limited number of people extremely discouraging. We encourage everyone in the community to ask questions and gather information so your decisions are based in fact.

So does this mean they are not seeking Eminent Domain of the people's property? First they tell the people that they are seeking eminent domain cause a bus garage is badly needed cause it is falling apart. Now it's not even an issue? I mean if a school is seeking eminent domain for something, you would think it is urgently needed. Don't make sense.
Well i am still waiting for a update from a member of this forum on this topic who is on the school board.....i bet we hear from him when he is up for re-election
ROTTERDAM Mohon looks at capital projects Finished plan to go before voters BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net.
Mohonasen officials are expected to make decisions in the coming weeks to shape a capital project that is expected to go before voters this winter. Members of the Board of Education are expected to meet with the district’s architects on Monday to discuss which parts of the plan will be included in the proposal. Superintendent Kathleen Spring said much of the proposal hinges on whether the district is able to work out a purchase agreement with a pair of property owners off of Serafini Drive. If the district is able to buy the roughly 40 acres owned by the O’Hare and Lindenman families, the capital project will include a new bus garage and new tennis courts where the depot is now. The old tennis courts would then be removed to make way for a new hightech wing on the high school. If the land deal falls through, Spring said the whole capital project could take on a markedly different appearance. “It’s almost like a domino effect,” she said. The O’Hare property was once targeted by the district under eminent domain. District officials viewed the 17.5 acres as the most logical area to construct a bus garage and athletic fields being discussed as part of a capital project. Talks between Mohonasen and the O’Hares broke down after the family balked at an appraisal the district provided last year. Mohonasen aborted the process in February out of concern the landgrab might resonate poorly with voters when the proposal goes to a referendum. “It’s gone away,” Spring said of the eminent domain action. But the district is hoping to advance the proposal to voters in February, meaning something needs to be worked out in short order. Spring said the board will need to decide whether to send a proposal without the land to voters this winter or wait and allow the negotiations to run their course. .................>>>>....................>>>>...............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01200&AppName=1
