Local schools to split $50MDistricts study ways to apply stimulus funding

..............The Mohonasen Central School District — set to receive $844,052 — is also scrutinizing its budget. It was set to lose $1.5 million under the governor’s plan so it is going through its budget and considering layoffs or not filling vacant positions and looking at energy savings, according to spokeswoman Adrienne Leon.     

Sorry, this is bullcrap.

Once the school, any school, gets their hands on this, they'll spend it as fast as they possibly can - it'll be gone - and their spendthrift excursions this year will strap taxpayers for years to come.  "Ok, we'll take this $844k... thanks - let's start this next project - without regard for how much it'll cost taxpayers in future years.  

This money should be used for direct tax relief to the residents - that's what would be "stimulating" - not burdening us with more taxes in future years.

Maybe we can get more LED signs that  "Winter recess: Dec 22-Jan3" or "Annual Strawberry fest this weekend"


We all know how much those signs helped the kids learn and prepare for the world.
