Consumer confidence in New York state declined this month, heading in the opposite direction as confidence levels nationwide.
Confidence in the state dipped 0.5 points to a reading of 68.6, according to data from the Siena Research Institute in Loudonville, affiliated with Siena College.
The national measure of confidence, as calculated by the University of Michigan, jumped almost eight points, to a value of 73.5. [However, The Conference Board's national Consumer Confidence Index also fell from 54.5 in August to 53.1 in September].
Last month, consumer confidence in New York hit its highest level in 20 months.
“New Yorkers’ willingness to spend lags behind [U.S. levels],” said Douglas Lonnstrom, founding director of the Siena Research Institute.

That is because our taxes are so high we have nothing left to spend. Solution? elect more Democrats so they can give more welfare and tax some more. Democrats capture Senate and get the budget in order: 9 BILLION in new taxes, 13 BILLION in new spending (7 times the rate of inflation)
Vote those last few Republicans out so you can be sure you will get more spending. Smart idea. There is nothing left to spend so our confidence is gone. |

Let's replace non profits by giving them their own taxing district. God knows we need more taxes |
| The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable, and so, if he is romantic, he tries to change it. And even if he is not romantic personally he is apt to spread discontent among those who are. ~ H.L. Mencken |

It's time to take back control of our government on all levels local/state/federal by voting out every politician on all levels of government who vote for bills that the majority of we the people are opposed to. Re-elect only those politicians who truly put the best interest of the taxpayer first and have a record of voting for bills that don't increase taxes, don't increase the size of government, and don't take away our freedoms. |

And take our government back with WHO? They all promise the same bs and deliver the status quo. And I will NOT vote a rep in just because they are not a dem. It clearly does not matter any more. At least locally we have a choice with the NNTP.
And as far as nys residents not spending enough.......looks like we are smarter and more conservative than our government! |
