Does anyone else have low water pressure? We live by Schalmont School and have very low water pressure. I went to take a shower this morning and there wasn't enough pressure for the shower. All faucets have a small stream of water coming out. We checked our pipes and they aren't frozen.

Anyone else notice the same thing?

Rotterdam water main break forces closures on parts of Princetown Road

By PAUL NELSON, Staff writer
Last updated: 1:34 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2009

ROTTERDAM -- A 20-inch water main break that occurred earlier today has forced authorities to close down a segment of Princetown Road, according to the Rotterdam Highway and Police Departments. The affected areas -- between Burnett Street and Mariaville Road -- include a large part of the town west of Five Corners, which will be without water for at least today, according to a press statement. The road will reopen once crews fix the ruptured waterline and officials are asking residents in the affected area to make other arrangements to get their water.

I called the police department who confirmed that there was a water main break by five corners. I figured I better check it out before my husband started to tear up our yard looking for the break!

Water main break cuts service to homes west of Five Corners

ROTTERDAM — Water service was shut down for a large part of the town west of the Five Corners Saturday after a 20 inch water main ruptured.
Clark Collins, Rotterdam’s senior water treatment plant operator, said it’s easier to fix smaller 6- or 8-inch main breaks. He said water service has been cut off to between 150 to 200 homes and he doesn’t expect it to be fully restored until sometime this morning.
“This time of year it’s hard to get some valves to hold because of the weather conditions and that’s really what busted the main. There’s no way to prevent them, this just happened to be a big one,” he said.
Police closed down a portion of Princetown Road between Burnett Street and Mariaville Road Saturday while town officials worked on the water line.
When water is restored town residents living between North Thompson Street at Princetown Road and North Westcott Road at Curry Road and all adjacent side streets will be subject to a boil-water advisory until Tuesday.

I think the low pressure deal is all over town.
I'm on Amelia street (off Heldeberg near the old huff and puff location), and we've had low pressure all morning. Just enough to shower, but I'm holding off on running the washer.

I have low pressure as well.  I am  Ft. Hunter/Carman Road.  Heard there was a second break when I was in the Cumberland Farms after Mass this a.m.  Cannot confirm.  Running the dishwasher anyway since the water gets so hot.  Using bottled water for everything else.  Would take the laundry to the "wash and fold" but their pressure is low as well.  No choice but to take down the tree.

There's a water main break at Altamont by Price Chopper, one at 5 corners and another at the corner of Bayberry Road and Puritan Drive

There may be another one also.

RPD Estimated there may be homes without water completely, but virtually everyone this side of carman rd is experiencing extremely low pressure.  These are HUGE breaks, but dunno why.

NO !!!!!!!!   Don't take down your tree!  It's ONLY the thrid day of Christmas.  You spend weeks preparing, running around, trying to squeeze in all the cooking and baking and decorating and sending cards, and shopping, and wrapping gifts, taking in your kids' concerts, in between working, shoveling snow, doing routine chores, etc.  Do you EVER get to see your tree and enjoy it?  After all that Christmas only just arrived on December 25.  For the next two weeks you sit back and enjoy,  Radio still plays Christmas music.  Has this generation forgotten the 12 Days of Christmas and all the visiting to others and having others in your home that takes place during this Christmas season

You can't control what breaks and when...but what you CAN control is how you inform the town residents.
The town web site is about as useful as crap on a pump handle. This board seems to be the place to get info.
