Rotterdam Police Investigate larcenies
Sean Ahern 01/12/10

The Rotterdam Police Department is investigating several cases of larceny from vehicles in the Colonial Manor, Highbridge and Coldbrook neighborhoods in a press release on Jan. 12.

Each larceny has involved unlocked vehicles, with electronic equipment and change being stolen. The police department advises that all residents lock their vehicles and take valuables such as purses, pocketbooks, wallets and valuable electronics out of their vehicles overnight. If items are to be left in their vehicles overnight, they should be stored and locked in the trunk of the vehicle out of plain view.

In addition to securing vehicles, Rotterdam Police advise residents to keep their properties well lit overnight. Residents are encouraged to contact the Rotterdam Police Department if they observe any suspicious activity and anyone having any information regarding these incidents is asked to contact the Rotterdam Police Department at 355-7731.

Don't we go thru this every year in Colonial Manor?

Guess there's nothing better in town for the kids to do.  We used to go to Rollarama, or better "Mohawk Mall" for entertainment. Remember?

This has been going on for decades. Happened to me about 15 years ago. And it doesn't matter if your doors are locked or not. (not that I'm recommending to keep them unlocked) Cause they will just break the car windows.

The little thugs did Curry Road around Fort Hunter last year.  I agree leaving the doors unlocked saves having to replace a window.

I agree. I never lock my car doors when it is parked in my driveway. I don't have anything in it any way.  I know too many people that have had their car windows broken. But that's just me.

Bumble, you leave doors unlocked?  I'm guessing you are a guy.  You've never heard of a criminal entering a car, getting in the back seat, hiding, until you get in and start driving and then the criminal points a gun at you?
