Question: Is pizza to be considered "fast food?". Especially delivery?  If it is, then will the management have to put up signs that no one will see?  Or will they have to preint the calorie content on the box?  Will they will need to advise the caller of the number of calories over the phone?  If so, do they give the answer for the whole pie or per slice?  What is the penalty per call that the customer is not advised?

And for those saying this will never happen, look at what brought this question about.  In the 80's, did you ever think we'd be talking about mandating caloric values be posted?  If you did then, why did it take so long to push this emergency legislation through?

And look what's next for the sheeple of NY

http://blog.timesunion.com/tab.....-restaurant-cooking/

Quoted Text
In a deeply misguided gesture that is also an abuse of the legislative process, a New York City Assemblyman is pushing a nanny-state bill that would ban the use of all forms of salt in the preparation and cooking of all restaurant food.

If passed, the measure, introduced Friday by Felix Ortiz, D-Brooklyn, would result in fines of up to $1,000 for each individual addition of salt by restaurant staff, whether before, during or after cooking. Customers would have the option of adding salt when food is served.

Quoted from Publius
You all realize that these chain restaurants already have the calorie information on hand, that if you ask for it you will be provided with the information, right? Oh you don't realize it? That's because though the information is available, no one knows it's available. If the information is already available why not do so in a more effective way so that people can actually benefit. I don't see the problem here! Why should we value business over individuals....In the words of Senders DON'T TREAD ON ME! Let me make my decisions, but give me the information to make it.

It seems to me that some of the people that spoke against this ban could have benefited from the calorie lists....

You probably ask yourself why there aren't better notices posted in the public rest rooms about public lewdness too, as you do your thing there. Then you would actually benefit from such postings, but instead you go about playing with yourself in public.

I agree.  This legislation does NOT encourage business.  I am a Democrat and very annoyed about this law.  Who does this help really?  Unless you're eating in a  fast food restuaraant every day, how is this of benefit.  And btw, if you're eating everyday in a fast food restaurant, you have more than a calorie problem.

GB loved your take off on the Niemoller reflection.

Most fast food chain restaurants have their calorie count on their website.

Well what's next--no using peanut oil because someone might have a peanut allergy.  This is just wayyyyyyy too much government intervention.  I just got the schedule of hearings.  I saw Ortiz's name on it.  I have to go back and check what it is about.

Wait until he sees how much salt is in Meals-on Wheels!  Promote health  absolutely.  People have a right to their own self-determination.  If they choose salt or high caloric meal--their business.

Yes but with government paid health care on the heels of passing, the government will then have the right to tell it's 'patients' whatever they choose to be in your best interest. And if you don't follow the government rules, guess what?.....no coverage for you!!! It will be 'restrictive health care'.

It's already started and universal health care hasn't even started yet!

The Niemoller reflection- It is true. Who will be safe from the heavy hand? Stop making apologies. No culture espouses celery sticks, spinach and iced water. All cultures espoused moderation. It is not so much what you choose to eat, it is how much; and how much you move...My ancestors didn't count calories.

Anyone making excuses is either bought and paid for or is drinking the snake oil, far in excess of what is in the daily recommended allowance. making snarky and girly little snot insults begs in-kind remarks. Wanna' go toe to toe? I am not so nice. I don't give a flying f*** if your feelings get hurt.
