Only the rich can run for office.  If you try to run a campaign on a shoestring, you won't win.  Money goes to money.  Winning candidates run on a promise of conservatism and get elected because they had money to blow and received contributions from others who also had money to blow to support a campaign.  Those of us that PREACH and LIVE truly conservative will never stand a chance wining an election.

The only way a truly conservative can have a chance at winning an election is with an endorsement from a major party AND some major bucks of their own. We have a corrupt 2 party system that is failing this country and it's people at all levels. It would be nice to see a change in this direction in the nov. elections. But the people need to get involved and engage in the process. IMHO

Santabarbara honored for human rights

SCHENECTADY — The Schenectady County Human Rights Commission awarded its Human Rights Achievement Award to Angelo Santabarbara, a Schenectady County legislator, on Thursday.
The award went to Santabarbara, D-Rotterdam, for his efforts as an elected official and as a local businessman that contribute to the cause of human rights.
Santabarbara’s work as a county legislator includes his support of insurance coverage for people with autism spectrum disorders and his legislation that prohibits the sale within the county of children’s beverage containers that contain Bisphenol A. BPA is a chemical commonly used in the manufacturing of baby bottles and other products designed for children. It has been linked to harmful heath effects.
He was also recognized for the donations made by his family business, the Santabarbara Cheese Co., to the Autism Society of America for the past three years.

Good thing he changed parties, or he would never have gotten that award from those discriminatory nitwits as a republican.

It appears that AS will be the next kosiur!!

A vote for AS will be a vote for more government programs and higher taxation that would be forced on the taxpayers.....just like kosiur's ridiculous proposed sex offender law would have.

Perhaps AS will be placed in a created, patronage job, like Kosiur did, after he loses the assembly race. Yes?

In either case....it will cost the taxpayers!

With the Assembly race ramping up, will Santabarbara be listed as the co-sponsor of Savage's legislation requiring those convicted of domestic violence to wear location tracking ankle bracelets?

The legislation and the timing are reminiscent of the sex offender relocation legislation that was introduced in the county legislature the last time that there was a sitting Democrat Legislator campaigning for the NYS Assembly.

I think this is a premature assessment. As of this time, we have no reason to believe that AS is suddenly a "liberal socialist" as you
have previously contended, or that he is an automatic vote for more government and taxation. I do think a few of his votes have
been misguided, but it doesn't mean that he is suddenly a full blown socialist.

And I doubt he will end up in any patronage job...AS is an engineer by profession...he'll be fine with or without politics...unlike the
hapless Lumpy Kosiur.

NYS needs to break down sex offenders into further segments.....children vs adults
a sex offense is never acceptable but there is a big difference between adults and minors -- punishment should fit accordingly
right now it is straight across the board

Are you referring to the victim or the perpetrators here? If it is the victims you are referring to....than it should be across the board. RAPE IS RAPE!!!! It is the 'act' that is punishable! MURDER IS MURDER! It shouldn't matter if they are 5, 50 or 80 year as old. They are ALL victims of the same crime.

Premature assessment? There has already been liberal 'fluff' legislation either proposed or passed with his name on it. And they all have his 'personal motivations' written all over them.

Premature.....we've seen enough!

AS will be savage's next Kosiur! And perhaps the firm he works for will have even a better 'in' with the plex and crew.

I agree with the first sentence, to an extent. When I said I think a few of his votes were misguided, it was the "fluff" legislation,
as you call it, to which I was referring...but at least for the time being, his motivation is pure speculation on your part.
