SCHENECTADY -- Mark Blanchfield is being considered for a recently vacated City Court judgeship, potentially creating a vacancy on the City Council if Mayor Brian U. Stratton appoints his fellow Democrat to finish the term of City Court Judge Vincent Versaci.
Versaci's confirmation by the state Senate as Schenectady County surrogate judge last week set in motion a chain of events that could lead to Blanchfield's appointment to the bench and a General Electric accountants appointment to the council. "Mark Blanchfield is a highly respected lawyer who has served the city for many years," said City Democratic Chairman Richard Naylor, who confirmed Blanchfield's likely appointment this morning.
Some exclusive-this is old news. The brains of the City Council is leaving for a mere City Court judgeship. A sad day for City taxpayers-can't they get the other rubber stamps to leave? Make them an offer they can't refuse.
