The devil made al-Qaida do it, so honor him
I feel obligated to offer an alternative proposal to the construction of a mosque adjacent to the hallowed ground of 9/11.
Instead of a mosque, a temple to Satan and accompanying satanic center should be built. The ardent followers of the great religions can then explode with righteous outrage and moral hatred, refudiating such a blasphemous abomination.
Remember, it wasn’t Mohammed who instructed the 9/11 hijackers. It was ol’ Mr. B.L. Zeebub (aka Lou Cipher) who inspired the nefarious attack.

The first Muslim crowned Miss USA spoke out against the planned mosque near Ground Zero yesterday, saying the project is insensitive to 9/11 victims.

"We should be more concerned with the tragedy than religion," said Miss USA Rima Fakih, who was born in Lebanon but raised in Dearborn, Michigan.

"I totally agree with President Obama with the statement on Constitutional rights of freedom of religion," Fakih told "Inside Edition."

"I also agree that it shouldn't be so close to the World Trade Center."

A planned 13-story community center and mosque two blocks north of Ground Zero, Park51 mushroomed into a national controversy last week after President Obama spoke in favor of the project at a White House dinner celebrating Ramadan.

Fakih, 24, is in Las Vegas rehearsing for Monday's Miss Universe pageant, officials said yesterday.

She told the Detroit Free Press on Tuesday she's fasting from sunrise to sunset for Ramadan.

The former Miss Michigan became the first Muslim to be crowned Miss USA in May. She dazzled judges when she took the stage in a skimpy red and orange bikini.

She would also be the first Muslim to be crowned Miss Universe.

Fakih commissioned a flashy gold and silver eagle costume for the competition that she calls a tribute to Obama.

"The symbolism of this costume is a tribute to your work to bring peace to the world," Fakih said of the winged outfit in a promotional video for Miss Universe.

"The amazing costume I will wear during the Miss Universe pageant represents the celebration of life, liberty and all that is American."

Fakih hit a rough patch in May when TMZ.com posted photographs of the beauty competing in a "Stripper 101" competition at a Michigan bar.

She was crowned pole dancing champion at the event.

I do not have a clue as to the motives of the Mosque builders.  I do know the location is beyond the pale.

Polish Carmelite Nuns a number of years ago wanted to build a convent near Auschwitz, Southern Poland.  Polish sovereignty was a big issue but Jewish demands won out.  The Poles gave in.  The Mosque builders are not Poles nor are the issues identical but they are close enough to make the point that sometimes being right is not always in the best interest of the common good.

I am not sure why Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama & Mayor Blumberg are saying the things they are.  Nancy comes across as being irrational.  Barack talks out of both sides of his mouth then corrects himself, out of both sides of his mouth.  Mayor Blumberg is to Islamo Fascist what Charles Lindberg was to the Nazi's & Adolf Hitler.  Blumberg is rich & intelligent, Lindberg was brave & smart, both men serve/served an evil cause.  Americans must be wiser in selecting it's leaders & heroes.

No matter how the Mosque issue plays itself out, the Islamo Fascist will have US.  We are fools if we allow them to build the Mosque & if we deny them the site, we are bigots.

Will the Mosque builders be as wise as the Poles, I doubt it.

While Muslims may have a RIGHT to build a mosque anywhere in the US -  with rights come responsibilities - and in this case, I think they have
a greater responsibility to NOT offend the victims of 9-11's gravesite  (the many whose remains were never recovered).

To oppose the mosque so close to the WTC site is not bigotry ... it is just common courtesy and respect for the dead.

The terrorist on 9-11 didn't run planes into the WTC in the name of jelly donuts.

The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable, and so, if he is romantic, he tries to change it. And even if he is not romantic personally he is apt to spread discontent among those who are. ~ H.L. Mencken

Oh boxy, you are such a twit sometimes!

if they were killed in the name of Christ, and the mission and group was funded by the vatican and authorized by the pope, because the pope hated and wanted to take over the west and wanted to exterminate the jews and behead anyone who didn't except Christ and did this all globally for decades......ohhhhhhhhhhh you can bet there'd be an issue!!!! REALLY!!!

Don't be so stupid, cause I know you're not....you just have that liberal mental disease! K?

And ya gotta admit that cicero's post about jelly donuts was funny! I laughed my a$$ off!

Those who want to build the mosque have a huge responsibility to show their good side and those who feel they are offended have a huge responsibility
to show how the US constitution works.....anything else makes us a theocracy.....I DONT WANT A THEOCRACY......

Krauthammer had right take on 9/11 mosque

Re Charles Krauthammer’s Aug. 15 column, “Location matters: sacred Ground Zero wrong place for mosque”: Thanks you, Charles Kauthammer, for a solid argument and well-written statement on why Ground Zero is not the place for a mosque — or any church for that matter.
Was it just an oversight that his article didn’t make it onto the first page of your opinion section or that President Obama is now using the tolerance card to push his agenda? Your newspaper does a fair job in consistently presenting both sides of most issues. However, you need to understand that the readers want fairness in how you post them on your pages.
[Columnist] Bob Ray Sanders’ stance is wrong [Aug. 15, “Is a mosque offensive? Not in this country”]. He obviously was on the moon when this terrible assault happened to our state and country.
If they really need a mosque in the area, take the offer from Gov. Paterson and others for an alternate site.
This proposal is highly insensitive and disgraceful to the memory of those who lost their lives at the hands of radical Muslim jihadists. Our country and its politicians need to stop playing nice and begin using common sense that we would expect from even our youngest members of society.
Three thousand-plus citizens died at this site; the country is at war against jihad and radical Muslims; you do not allow a Muslim mosque at the site that started this war and is still taking thousands of American lives, period.
Stop using the Constitution only when it meets your needs and ignoring it when it does not.
