I can imagine there are lots of dog owners who think the world owes them and their beasts everything. But I bet there are far more who don't feel that way.

By placing an idea on an agenda for discussion ... is not the same thing as saying that I support this issue.   Any taxpayer has the right to propose ideas ..  the comment box is still up in the outer office of the Supervisor's Office at Town Hall.  Any taxpayer can drop off their comments or ideas about our town parks in that box.

If other ideas come up .. they will go on future commission meeting agendas as well.

That is how a democracy works.

A democracy is one thing. Having elected officials know how to 'not spend' taxpayer's money is another and telling the taxpayers just that!! This is just another liberal, feel good, vote getter issue!!

A democracy for a dog park??? Well put it up for vote...the democratic way...k?

Alan,

That is not necessary! How dare you call any woman such names -- what is wrong with you?

This blog is intended for free communication with different ideas.... passion is ok but name calling is ignorant and should be reason for abolishment on the site.

an apology is necessary and if you are a professional, you will

The elected officials have nothing to do with this being put on the Parks Commission agenda.
No taxpayer money has been spent on the idea .. furthermore .. the Parks Commission can only
discuss the idea and make a recommendation (or choose not to make a recommendation) to the board.. and would have to send the idea to the Town Board for its approval before even
a penny of taxpayer money could be spent on the idea.

The comment about Kelly was nasty and uncalled for.  I agree .. an apology should be made.

Actually, the skateboard park is another issue the Parks Commission will address in the near future.  The equipment from that park is sitting in storage .. I think we need to find a home in one of our parks for it ..get it up and running again.

Common sense would tell me....................If the equipment is sitting in storage and has been for a very very long time..........WHY would rotterdam try to get it up and running again? Is there a big demand for it??

Are taxpayers requesting the revitalization of the skateboard park like they are for the dog park?

The equipment was pulled from Esposito Park by the old administration -- never gave a good reason why.
The equipment cost the town $40,000  and to my thinking ... $40,000 sitting in storage is a waste of taxpayer money.     Everyday, I see young people skateboarding in places they shouldn't be ... why not give them a safe place to do it?
