Alleged prescription drug ring busted

BY STEVEN COOK Gazette Reporter

Federal and local offi cials have taken down a Niskayuna-based drug ring that specialized in illegal sales of a powerful pain reliever and a knockoff erectile dysfunction drug, according to federal officials and papers fi led this week in court.
Identified as the alleged leader of the operation was Frederick Leonardi of Delafield Avenue, Albany. Leonardi was named in paperwork filed this week in federal court seeking to seize three bank accounts related to an alleged local prescription drug ring.
Leonardi was named as making several illegal sales of OxyContin pills, one for as much as $2,000, and selling knockoff Cialis pills, both out of a Niskayuna address.
James Burns, assistant special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Albany offi ce, confi rmed Thursday that formal charges have yet to be filed against Leonardi but charges are expected.
The attempt to seize the three bank accounts is also part of the same investigation that led to the arrest of a Schenectady man last month, accused of throwing a briefcase filled with prescription drugs from the Western Gateway Bridge into the Mohawk River as police pursued him, Burns said.
The operation, according to authorities, was based out of a building on Rosendale Road in Niskayuna near the Colonie line. Authorities allege customers would purchase the drugs in the building. ............>>>>.............>>>>.....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01101&AppName=1

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
