Hope ya don't mind MC1....but perhaps this should be posted here too.
Quoted Text
Quoted Text DOT employees can go to the “P” network drive to find files with names related to the “restructuring”. It is in P:\Administrative Services\Facilities Mangement. Look for the files named, “REGION ONE move to 50 Wolf Road” (dated 12/20/11) and “REGION ONE consolidation” (dated 3/14/11).

Yes they are fiscal incompetents. No - there is nothing they could have done to keep DOT downtown. The re-shuffling of people is a freight train. |

From what I've read, they don't know where, what and who will actually be 'consolidated. Look at how many some of the other areas have. Schenectady only has one. |

So now all the Metroplex bar and grills will go out of business cause there is no one left to use them. Will be another ghost town...oh except when King Morris's Kingdom has visitors. And remember those visitors have to be protected so the police car is not going to be available to attend to crimes going on elsewhere the city.
Metroplex is a perfect example of of a possible corruption, we all know it. Better get used to it. Even the courts will not knowledge the abuse of tax payer money. They don't have the backbone to do what they are paid to be doing they are right in cahoots and again we all know it. So get used to it folks, it ain't gonna change.
Long arguments were had about the creation of metroplex years ago on the old Port 80 forum. Good ole Peter G was hell bent on it's creation.
Did we do it to ourselves? Wasn't it us that let Metroplex be created in the first place? Just curious.
Metropex got stung and they will now be running around trying to find something to fill it's place offering business more of our money to bring them here.....no taxes due.
Poor ole Schenectady they could care less and the state could care less. We did it to ourselves. We let Metroplex be created in the first place.
Now me ducks as the rocks are gonna be coming at me for pointing out some truths. |

Did anyone really have a choice in the matter or was it a done deal before people even knew about it. |

Oh it was a done deal no two doubts about it but even so there could have been way to stop it. The people could have stood up in unison and fought it. Nope they didn't for they have thrown in the towel fighting the possible corruption and that is what it is. The insider deals that go on in this county are blatant |

NOT at taxpayer expense anyway. I'm not opposed to downtown. I'm opposed to it's existence at taxpayer expense. It is totally WRONG for taxpayers, strugging with their own household budgets, many having cuts in their income (losing jobs, cutting hours, furloughs, whatever), with increased expenses for food, gas, utilities, medical, etc, and then Schenectady's so called leaders rape and rob the taxpayers by forcing them to food the bill for downtown! These businesses need to exist entirely on their own, they are making money, they are getting richer, and especially, they DO have the financial ability to build, renovate and pay the taxes OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKETS. If they don't have the money and they fail, too bad. This country was NOT founded on the idea that homeowners are supposed to be taxed to the nth degree in order to keep private business in business. |

That's fine. I couldn't resist putting in on the other board to start, considering the comment(s) that were made, especially the one to which I responded |

The DOT building was a great improvement to the dilapidated old buildings that once stood on the site --- if it is true that the DOT offices will be moving out (and for now this is just a rumor) than another tenant will be found for the building and life will go on. Change happens -- so grow up and get over it.

Trickle down government failed! |
| The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable, and so, if he is romantic, he tries to change it. And even if he is not romantic personally he is apt to spread discontent among those who are. ~ H.L. Mencken |

this is what happens when folks depend on the government to take care of their every need, be it personal or economic!!! When will folks learn????
If another 'government' entity fills that building....then nothing was learned and the end results will be the same. If the METROPLEX/GILLEN, lures a business to the area with a lucrative tax break at the cost to the taxpayers....it will be yet another negative result.
Let the 'market' decide and let capitalism do 'it's thing'. At least it would be 'real' and not another attempt at projecting a false sense of economic security that fails every single time!! |
