The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness. John Kenneth Galbraith
A new study published in the online journal PLOS ONE has found that holding favorable views of this season’s major Republican presidential candidates is associated with a tendency to misperceive ‘bullshit’ statements as profound. In the study, bullshit is used as a technical term and defined as, “communicative expression that lacks content, logic, or truth from the perspective of natural sciences.” Additionally, the study found that conservatives, in general, were also more likely to judge pseudo-profound statements as profound. This could help explain why a slogan like “Make America Great Again” can appear superficial and cheesy to some but brilliant in its simplicity to others.

Not nearly as profound or brilliant as "Hope and Change" or "Yes we can". LOL

You missed the point of the piece... It's not that campaigns have "slogans", it's that Conservatives judge these slogans to be significant when they are just slogans.

Exclusive: Trump surges in support, almost even with Clinton in national U.S. poll
Donald Trump's support has surged and he is now running nearly even with Democrat Hillary Clinton among likely U.S. voters, a dramatic turnaround since he became the Republican party's presumptive presidential nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday.
The results could signal a close fight between the two likely White House rivals as Americans make up their minds ahead of the Nov. 8 election to succeed Democratic President Barack Obama. As recently as last week, Clinton led Trump by around 13 points in the poll.
In the most recent survey, 41 percent of likely voters supported Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, and 40 percent backed Trump, with 19 percent not decided on either yet, according to the online poll of 1,289 people conducted from Friday to Tuesday. The poll had a credibility interval of about 3 percentage points.

Donald Trump Denies Pretending To Be His Own Spokesman Reporters have long known Trump to use a fake name when talking to them.

"Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump denied on Friday that he ever used a false name to pose as a spokesman for himself — something he had been widely known to do for years.
During a telephone interview on the “Today” show, Trump responded to a Washington Post report detailing Trump’s attempts to call reporters using the false names John Barron or John Miller. The Post obtained a recording from one call with “Miller” that sounds an awful lot like Trump discussing his divorce with Marla Maples.
Trump denied it was him in the recording and called it a “scam.”
